1. Review of Uttar Pradesh’s Action Plan to Tackle Air Pollution in NCR (Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change)
MoEFCC Secretary Shri Narendra Bhooshan reviewed the action plans of the Uttar Pradesh Government and urban local bodies to address air pollution in Delhi-NCR and prepare for winter.

7. Development Phase of National Plan of Action for Small-Scale Inland Fisheries Launched (Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying)
Dr Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries, launched the development phase of the National Plan of Action (NPOA) for small-scale inland fisheries on 23 October 2026.
It is being developed under the FAO framework in collaboration with the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO); it covers rivers, canals, reservoirs, lakes, floodplain wetlands, tanks and cold-water systems.
Key issues: fishing rights, decent work, gender equality, value chains, and disaster risks and climate change; priorities were set at a two-day national workshop in Bhopal.
India’s current annual fish production is 19.7 million tonnes (about three-fourths inland); targets are 30 million tonnes of production and Rs 1.25 lakh crore of seafood exports in the next five years.
For the exam: India is the world’s second-largest fish producer. BOBP-IGO is headquartered in Chennai (members: India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka). The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was launched in 2020.
8. New Study on How Black Hole Spin Affects X-ray ‘Flickering’ (QPOs) (Ministry of Science and Technology)
Researchers at ARIES, an autonomous institute of DST, showed that a black hole’s spin affects the motion of the accretion shock around it and the frequency of quasi-periodic oscillations (QPOs) in X-rays.
When viscosity exceeds a critical value, the stable shock becomes unstable and oscillates, producing QPOs.
In rapidly spinning black holes the shock moves closer and QPOs form over a much wider frequency range; for a black hole of about 10 solar masses it can exceed 100 Hz.
The study involved Poland’s Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center and MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh); it was published in the Journal of High Energy Astrophysics.
For the exam: ARIES is located in Nainital (Uttarakhand); its Devasthal campus hosts India’s largest 3.6-metre Devasthal Optical Telescope (DOT).
9. 7th AgriVoltaics World Conference 2026 Concludes in New Delhi (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy)
The three-day 7th AgriVoltaics World Conference (AWC) 2026 hosted by MNRE concluded, with special focus on the Global South and farmer-centred models.
Agrivoltaics means producing crops and solar power together on the same agricultural land, raising farmers’ incomes.
A session by ICAR and IWMI discussed agro-climatic zoning, shade-tolerant crops and water-use efficiency; in a GIZ-led session farmers and FPOs shared their experiences.
The 8th AgriVoltaics World Conference will be held in France in 2027.
For the exam: The International Solar Alliance (ISA) was launched by India and France at Paris (COP21) in 2015; it is headquartered in Gurugram. The PM-KUSUM scheme helps farmers install solar pumps and solar plants.
10. Kittur Rani Chennamma’s Birth Anniversary and 202nd Victory Celebration at Parliament Premises (Ministry of Railways)
The birth anniversary of Kittur Rani Chennamma and the 202nd anniversary of her victory over the British were celebrated at Prerana Sthal in the Parliament premises.
The programme was led by Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti Shri V. Somanna; Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla and Jal Shakti Minister Shri C.R. Patil were present.
Rani Chennamma was described as a woman warrior who challenged an imperial power and a symbol of resistance.
For the exam: Rani Chennamma of Kittur (present-day Belagavi district, Karnataka) led an armed struggle against the East India Company in 1824; Sangolli Rayanna was her key associate. It is counted among the early armed resistances before 1857.
